Here We Go

Morbid title for a film blog but then again, there's only so much time in one person lifetime to watch movie. I love movies and I enjoyed writing about them so that I can read about my thoughts on those movies later on. But the problem with writing reviews for them would be putting them down in words. I know what I like and don't like but it's just take too much time to pen them down.

and it's Precious Time that are taken away from watching movies!!!

plus when I rate them, I am starting to find difficulties in rating them according to stars system. Some movies are great but they are movies that I do not like to rewatch again. Then there are movies that are disposable entertainment but somehow it struck a chord with me and in some strange unfathomable ways, I love them till my last breath. Therefore it occurred to me that I could rate them as Movies that I like to be buried with, Movies I would enjoy rewatching or Great Movies but I am not interested to watch it again. Of course there will be those movies that are simply a waste of time and time that I can never get back.

Lastly, to speed the process of jotting down my thoughts for a movie, I am going to do it in such manner. I am going to construct my reviews in three categories.

1st part would be the Pitch. Reasons why I (or even others) would be interested in that movie. It could be the theme or two well known actors working together for the first time. Just think of it as how the filmmakers would try to sell the idea of the film to their investors.

The 2nd part would be the Plot. A general synopsis of the movie. Nothing too spoilish and hopefully informative for folks who want to know what the movie about.

Lastly the Perspective. The defining bit of the review that would make it different from the 1001 reviews out there and it's basically my view on the show. What I liked and didn't like about the movie.

So that's it. Short & Sweet. Let's get to the point. Watch, Write and Whoopee!

  1. Hi richardlimjr --

I share the feeling sometimes re not wanting to spend precious time writing about movies. However, there are times -- during a film festival when writing about movies I have seen helps me to remember them better, and when a movie is so good or bad that I want to share my thoughts about them -- that I do feel that it's worth the time and effort... and of course having other people appreciate one's efforts sure is encouraging. :)
